Thomson Reuters – Blog Redesign
THE PROBLEM
After rebranding and creating a new marketing platform, the team needed to update all of the blogs that sit within the Thomson Reuters umbrella to visually align with the new brand as well as serve the needs of each of the businesses.
ROLE
I led the User Experience and Visual Design for the creation of three responsive blog themes to support a variety of content types and differing levels of curation. Building off of the work started in the re-platform and rebrand, I created a series of modular templates that could be used interchangeably. By adding a handful of new components and adding functionality to a few existing components, we were able to create new themes with minimal development effort.
CHALLENGES
Creating the new components and themes was the simple part. The biggest challenge was designing the header component to meet all of the potential use cases across hundreds of websites within the Thomson Reuters brands. Some sites had strict color requirements on what the header had to be, some sites required a language toggle to switch language or county and all of the solutions needed to work in mobile.
We also needed to solve for the needs of a global header with locale and language requirements.
